1.I LOVED MYSELF LIKE MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT
The moment I overheard a doctor talking about my case with a colleague and he said “there’s no hope”, was the moment I decided that even if others gave up on me I would never give up on myself. I would back myself, I would encourage myself and I would believe in myself and my body’s ability to heal in ways that doctor had never even considered.
So when they told me “it’s impossible” … I proved them wrong.
When they said I couldn’t succeed… I said “you just watch me.” When they had completely written me off, I absolutely refused to accept their fate and thank goodness I didn’t because just look where it got me.
2. I BUILT A VISION FOR MY FUTURE
What began as daydreaming to escape the bed-bound reality I was experiencing became one of the most powerful and transformative tools in my toolkit.
Not only were those daydreams literally changing my brain and biology for the better, but the more emotionally invested I became in the future I was imagining, not only did my brain help me move toward that future (via natural brain processes like selective attention, value tagging & pathways thinking), but my identity shifted from my current bed-bound self to my ideal future self unlocking endless amounts of courage, conviction and motivation as well.
