My first real taste of freedom, a totally unconventional birthday par-taay, my new ‘Green’ home under construction, media interviews, and milestone moments aplenty – 2014 was a year with many highlights, here’s a few of the highest.
MY BIRTHDAY
This was a reunion I had dreamed about. In my imagination however, I was busting some slick moves on the dance floor & scoffing down a massive slab, of insanely delicious chocolate birthday cake. But hey, life doesn’t always go according to plan, & sometimes, to keep yourself from spinning off into a far-away Galaxy called ‘Woe is Me’, you just have to make the best of it.
An unexpected discovery? Even a Saferoom Glass Wall can’t stop some fun times with the Girls!
CENTRAL PARK
Then, something amazing happened. I took my very FIRST walk in Central Park. With one of my besties (& her trusty iPhone filming the entire thing), we made it happen. Me in my lil’ stripped back room in South Australia, and she, in a NYC Winter Wonderland. We walked together & my heart just burst right open. Total. Magic.
FIRST DRIVE
A milestone like no other. My First drive in the car in more than TWO YEARS. Five whole minutes of freedom.
I saw people, real people … walking their dogs and playing sport on the oval. Happy regular people just going about their day. At the end of the street I saw life, and for a few short minutes, life saw me too.
At first I battled whether or not to upload the video of me revealing my unexpected reaction to disimprisonment, (AKA bawling my eyes out). But you don’t get more real life & authentic than this moment. Want to know what REAL GRATITUDE looks like? THIS IS IT.

LATE NIGHT SPIN
After attempting a few short Sunday Morning drives, it was time to try something new … a late night spin to the local DVD shop! Giggles and gawking at the suburban nightlife. SO fun. Mum & I … Oh yeah, & Tom Cruise.

BRAIN POWER
Harnessing the power of the mind, is a crucial part of any healing quest. What we BELIEVE about ourselves and the way we SEE ourselves in the world, can greatly influence every aspect of our lives … our potential to experience love, joy, success and even our potential to heal.
Shattering limiting beliefs is my speciality. And as a part of my #brainretraining … I developed a ‘normal’ To-Do List. Visual markers & experiences to reeducate my brain & body on HOW to be a healthy person who is capable of doing just regular, every day things like everyone else.
•Waking to the end of the driveway.
•Siting at the dining room table.
•Warming up my own lunch.
•Standing outside in regular clothes ie skinny jeans, spike heels, sparkly necklace SANS face mask.
These may sound like insignificant offerings. But, after being couped up in bed wearing threadbare Trackie-Daks, unable to tackle any of these things, for YEARS ON END … then actually seeing photos of myself, in the MIDDLE of these ‘normal’ To-Do List moments, rewrote my RULE BOOK OF POSSIBILITY in a nanosecond.
MEDIA INTERVIEWS
Making the decision to share my story in a public forum was not easy. I felt exposed, vulnerable, afraid of ridicule and judgement. Even today, some three years later, my knees still shake just a lil’ bit when something goes to print. But I know, that I must share the deets of my healing journey in order to shine a spotlight on an illness that has been misunderstood, misdiagnosed or even to some, totally unheard of for way too long.
There is no greater teacher than personal experience, and I believe, that if I can find the courage to stand up in the world, others may too.
Not only can we learn from each other’s wisdom, truth and unique life Oddessy, but hopefully, inspire one another along the way.
Thanks to all the absolutely awesome & lovely peeps who were kind enough to feature me on/in their blog/magazine/news outlet. TOOTH EXTRACTION
Quite possibly THE most dramatic pinnacle of the year. A tooth extraction in my kitchen without anaesthetic… yes, that actually happened. AND, I still can’t quite believe that was me in the middle of it.
Sometimes, we have to face the things we think we cannot face. And in the process, we discover a WHOLE LOT MORE about ourselves. Man, did I ever. To read all about it – click here.
AMAZING HQ
Our homes should be a place of refuge and rejuvenation. A safe and healthy place to live, sleep, work & thrive. But, in today’s modern world, safe, healthy housing, which is free from chemical toxins & irritants (found in furnishings, interior finishes & fixtures, cleaning/personal care products, fragrances, pesticide treatments) and excessive EMFs and RF Fields, (generated by internal & external electrical wiring & wireless technology), can be close to impossible to find. But listen up … SAFE HOUSING, CAN BE THE DECIDING FACTOR in whether EI/MCS suffers improve their health or even recover completely.
In the right environment, free from constant toxicant exposures, symptoms can subside and healing can begin. A healthy home becomes a critical component of treatment.
Just as the WRONG type of environment can harm, the RIGHT environment can heal.
My MOD GREEN SAFE POD (or Amazing HQ as it’s also known) features safe/ inert materials and specialised building methods. So my new abode, will be ‘green’ in a completely new way.
Friendly to the environment, but also friendly to me & my health. An Environmentally Safe, Chemical-Free Sanctuary for me to live, thrive and heal.
It took long time and a heap of dedication to get this mammoth project off the ground. But now, almost halfway there, I have the evidence I need. If you STAY FOCUSED and NEVER give up, ALL THINGS are possible.

WEBSITE
Confined to one room navigating illness & separation from all the wonders of the big wide world, has completely changed me. UNRIVALLED self discovery, EPIC growth & TOTAL transformation, doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Deep down in my soul, I knew I had to share my story.
After writing thousands of words by hand with pencil & paper, my Mum typed them and Bliss Inventive put them to life online and www.ameliahill.com was born.
To all of you who have visited my newbie website …Thank you for your kind words and lovely messages of support & encouragement. Thank you for sharing my story with your family, friends and online communities. And thank you, for sharing your own stories of healing and discovery with me too. CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
I DO miss the Christmases of the past … trad festivities, gift shopping, homemade Gingerbread and get-togethers with family & friends. But I have learned, that even though life may not have turned out the way you imagined, there are still many things to be grateful for. And this festive season, I had to agree.
Hangin’ with my big sis & lil’ niece WITHOUT a glass wall between us – first time in almost three years. AND on Christmas Day, instead of sitting solo in my Saferoom, I ate my lunch at the outside table with my Mum & Step Dad. Can’t actually remember the last time that happened. Years. Awesome with a Capital A.
LOOKING AHEAD
Woven in amongst the many highlights of 2014, there were a few challenges too. Disappointments, loneliness & ‘setbacks’…. some really tough moments. But bumps are inevitable on any great healing journey, right? Maybe you’ve faced a few challenges of your own this year?
But what I know is this. The times that were the most testing, (AKA -travelling up sh!t creek without a paddle OR a map & in the midst of a record breaking snowstorm) …forced me to grow in dynamic new ways.
I felt myself dig deep, hold strong … I felt my spiritual muscles grow.
After all, how do you learn the meaning of true persistence until you fall down seven times get up eight?
How do you learn the meaning of courage until you must stand up & BE courageous? How do you learn the meaning of patience, of fortitude, of forgiveness, of grit & even greatness?
How do you know what you’re REALLY capable of until life stretches you beyond your comfort zone or requires you to withstand a snowstorm?
So if 2014 left you a little weary or bruised – shift your focus. Grab the HIGHLIGHT REEL and revel in the moments that made you smile. And then, with that same smile, reflect on the tough times as well.
Choose to see those challenging moments in BRAVE NEW WAYS.
What did you learn?
How did you grow?
What treasures did you discover about yourself?
When you are WILLING to see your life and your tough times in this way, you are no longer bound by your past, but better, wiser, stronger and more equiped because of it. You are. I know you are.
So thank you, 2014.
Thank you for the lessons learned, the spiritual muscles developed and the blessings contained within. Now, it’s time to step into 2015. May it be bright. May it be bold. May it be even more amazing than I can imagine right now.
I am ready.
